PFLAG Oxford/North Mississippi

Parents, Families & Friends of Lesbians & Gays (PFLAG) is a national organization with over 200,000 members and 500 affiliates in the United States. PFLAG promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons, their families and friends through: support, to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten an ill-informed public; and advocacy, to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights.

Meetings: 3rd Thursday of each month, Sarah Isom Center on the Campus of the University.

OUTlaw

OUTlaw is a law student organization dedicated to equal rights for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) persons both at The University of Mississippi School of Law and in society at large. OUTlaw serves its population by providing support and a forum for the discussion of legal or political issues affecting GLBT individuals. OUTlaw also serves an important social function; it allows students, faculty, and staff at UM Law to establish friendships and identify other students, faculty, and staff with a commitment to the GLBT community.

GSA

The University of Mississippi Gay-Straight Alliance is a student organization that provides advocacy and education for individuals in the University and Oxford communities, as well as works to increase tolerance and respect for individuals of all sexual orientations and identities.

LAMBDA

Lambda is a support group for individuals in the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender (GLBT) community who are interested in discussing issues that affect them on a personal level. In addition to having open topics of discussion, weekly topics will also be selected collaboratively.

Meetings: We will meet every Thursday, 11:00 a.m. at Peabody Hall room 309.

ALLIES

The Allies program mission is to develop and maintain a network of informed faculty and staff who are willing to be visibly supportive of students who identify themselves as gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender, and who will work to foster a campus climate in which all students, regardless of sexual orientation or identity, may feel safe, supported, respected, and affirmed.

I really need to talk to someone.I have come out to my daughter about being Trans but I just don’t think I can tell my son,he just turned 14,I don’t want to hurt him,or have to deal with the humiliation from peers at school,but I don’t know if I have the strength to try to let this dream die again.Any reply would be greatly appreciated,Thanks,Charlene
